How to take professional photos with your iPhone

You might think that you need an expensive, high-quality camera to take good pictures. However, the iPhone camera is quite complicated and you can take professional photos if you know how to use its settings.

While this article will list a few products you can buy to upgrade your iPhone’s photography capabilities, there are plenty of ways to get great photos without add-ons. Just follow the tips below, and you will easily get good photos.

Get an iPhone camera lens

While not necessary, it will push your iPhone’s camera up several notches to have a lens attached to your iPhone. Lenses for most iPhone models are available, and they’ll give you that extra premium camera look without spending a fortune.

The original iPhone’s lens was pretty good, but it couldn’t get certain shots like macro shots. Getting an iPhone lens will allow you to achieve more variety in your photos.

Unlock your camera fast

There are many cases where something goes wrong quickly, or you see something that needs to be photographed immediately. Apple has you covered in these cases, making the camera app accessible directly from your lock screen.

  1. Unlock your iPhone to the lock screen.
  1. Swipe left to access the camera.
  1. To view photos, you’ll have to unlock your iPhone.

Pay attention to the light

Lighting is perhaps the most important factor in determining how good your photo will be. You can adjust the amount of light the camera picks up on your iPhone. To do this:

  1. While you have the camera open, tap the screen to focus and you’ll see a yellow box appear with a sun icon to the right.

Also, if you’re in really low light, your iPhone will automatically go into night mode. You will see a small yellow icon displayed on the top left representing the number of seconds.

The darker the setting, the higher that number will be. You can also tap it and manually adjust the settings.

Using AE/AF . Lock

The iPhone camera has a number of settings you can change that can be helpful during your photography. AE/AF (auto exposure/autofocus) lock can help you lock the focus point. When you use this, the camera will keep the focus on a specific point instead of autofocusing. It will also lock the exposure so you get consistent lighting.

  1. In the Camera app, tap and hold where you want the camera to focus.
  1. Keep holding until you see AE/AF Lock notice at the top.

    Use the Rule of Thirds

When setting up the scene, you can follow some composition rules that will make your photos more pleasing. A simple rule you can use with camera grids is the rule of thirds. If you line up your subject or focus at any intersection on the grid, your viewer’s eye will naturally move to that area.

Photography and film works use this rule and you will benefit from this in your photos.

    Avoid zooming

When you use the zoom feature on your iPhone, the camera lens cannot zoom in much because it gives you the illusion of doing so with the help of software. When you zoom, you will see that the pixels in your image will be blurred and have a lot of grain.

However, the iPhone 12 and iPhone Pro Max have a telephoto lens that works better for optical zoom. Optical zoom is 2 to 2.5x depending on your model. Then it uses digital zoom.

However, if you have another iPhone, you can avoid pixelation by rearranging the scene from a different angle and physically moving it closer to the main subject. You can get a different perspective and a better photo.

    Using HDR Mode

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is a feature in the iPhone camera that helps in taking pictures when there is a lot of light. When shooting in HDR mode, your iPhone takes multiple photos with different exposures and then combines them so the light levels don’t detract from the photo.

Your iPhone is set to HDR by default, but if you want to control it manually, here’s what to do.

    1. On iPhone 8 or later, go to Settings > Camera, then turn off Smart or Auto HDR. If you have older iPhone models, you can skip this step.

    Captured in raw form

If you have an iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max or later and running iOS 14.3 or later, you can shoot in the Apple ProRAW format. Taking pictures in this format can help you if you want to edit your photos, as it does not compress your image and retains more details.

    1. Go Settings > Camera > Format.
    1. In Take a photo, turn on Apple ProRAW.
    Settings > Camera > Format > Apple ProRAW” class=”wp-image-12811″ /></figure>
</div>
<ol start=
  • Return to the Camera app, then tap RAW to turn on and take your photo.
  • Using Burst mode

If you’re shooting a subject with a lot of movement, Burst mode can be a big help. This mode will let you take multiple photos in a short time so you can choose the perfect one from a lot of photos.

Here’s how to use Burst mode.

    1. When you’re ready to take a photo in the Camera app, hold down the shutter button.
    1. Instantly swipe left and your camera will go into Burst mode. You can view the number of photos the camera has taken.
    1. If you have iOS 14 or later, you’ll need to use the volume up button for Burst mode. Go Settings> Camera and then activate Using Volume Up for Burst.
Settings > Camera > Use Volume Booster for Burst” class=”wp-image-12812″ /></figure>
</div>
<p>You should be able to find your Burst photo in the photo gallery. </p>
<h2><span class=Flash off

If you are taking pictures with flash, you may find that the colors in your photos are washed out. If you are using flash for lighting purposes, you are better off using natural light sources.

To disable flash, follow these steps:

    1. At the top of the camera screen, tap the arrow.
    1. Tap the lightning bolt icon at the bottom left.
    1. Choose Flash off right to buy. Now you can take pictures without flash.
