Update your iPad in Recovery Mode

The software update process can take a few minutes or a few hours — depending on the speed of your connection. If the update takes too long, your iPad will exit recovery mode (usually after 15 minutes). So make sure your computer is connected to a high-speed Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.

Factory reset or factory reset your iPad

You should only restore your iPad to factory settings if it still won’t boot through the Apple logo after the update. Keep your iPhone plugged in to your computer and boot it into the recovery process.

  1. Option Restore and Update to start the factory reset process.

That will erase the data on your iPad, restore it to factory defaults, and install the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Contact Apple Support or visit a nearby Apple Store if all troubleshooting methods have proven ineffective.

One last trick

A dead iPhone or iPad turns on automatically when plugged in to the charger. If your iPad has a faulty power button, disable it in the settings menu (Setting > Shared > Turn off). Wait for 20-30 seconds, plug the iPad into a power source and wait for it to turn on. Better yet, restart the device through the AssistiveTouch menu.
