How to record screen on iPhone

If taking a screenshot or sharing it doesn’t help you communicate effectively, you can capture the action on your iPhone using screen recording complete with audio.

  1. To start screen recording and audio recording on your iPhone, make sure your iPhone is running iOS 11 or later. To check if you are running this version, select Settings > General.

    1. Pull up Control Center by swiping up from the bottom edge or swiping down from the top right of the screen depending on your iPhone model.

    1. Next, turn on Do not disturb by pressing the crescent moon button. Do Not Disturb is useful because it temporarily pauses all notifications and calls that might affect your screen recording.

    1. You can also schedule when you want to pause notifications or turn them off for a specific period of time. To do this, press down Do not disturb button.

    1. Clap The checkered microphone to turn on your microphone.

    Note: When your microphone is on, it will remain on for future screen recording purposes unless you disable it.

    1. Clap Start recording and wait for the timer to expire before starting to record.

    Note: Not all apps allow you to record screen on iPhone.

    1. Next, tap your iPhone screen to hide the Control Center menu. You are now ready to record video and audio of your iPhone screen activity. A red status bar will appear at the top of your iPhone screen to indicate that you’re recording.

      Tapping this red bar will bring up a pop-up asking if you want to stop recording. However, if you’re viewing an Instagram story or YouTube video and other media is open, the red bar won’t appear.

    1. To stop recording, tap the red bar, then tap Stop.

    Check out the Photos app to find your recording among your other photos and videos. From here, you can view, edit, trim, and share your videos via email, social media, or through Messages.
