How to make your AirPods bigger

AirPods are the most premium Bluetooth headphones on the market. The devices combine usability and convenience in a way that some other headphones do, but they all suffer from one particular problem: the sound levels are often too low.

If you’ve discovered your AirPods aren’t loud enough for you to listen to your favorite podcasts or play your best songs, here are some methods to make them louder.

How to make your AirPods bigger

There are several methods to clean your AirPods. We will start with the simplest.

Clean your AirPods

The most frequent reason for AirPods to lose volume is due to a build-up inside the speaker housing. Earwax, lint, and slippery dust can build up and obstruct the passage of volume clearly.

When you clean your AirPods, make sure you’re not using anything that’s still wet. Avoid using paper towels or paper towels as this may cause more buildup inside the device. The best option is to take a cotton swab or an old, soft-bristled toothbrush and gently clean the AirPods.

Make sure to avoid using anything sharp that could damage your AirPods. Gently scrub the speaker housing and the earpiece to remove earwax, then check the volume again. You might be surprised how little earwax is needed to affect volume levels.

Turn off low power mode

Low power mode prolongs your phone’s life by disabling background refresh in most apps and adjusting some other settings. However, it can also affect the phone’s volume output by changing the maximum volume the device can produce.

Low power mode is switched to off

If your phone is in low power mode and your AirPods aren’t as noisy as they should be, turn off low power mode. This will drain your battery faster, but it will improve the sound quality and increase the volume of your AirPods.

Recalibrate your AirPods

Sometimes, your AirPods may lose calibration after too many volume level adjustments. The good news is that it’s very easy to fix. Start playing music on your AirPods first, then turn the volume down until you hear nothing. With the AirPods still in your ear, swipe down from the top-right corner to access the Control Panel and turn off Bluetooth.

Start playing music again. At this point, it should come out of your iPhone’s speakers. Again, turn the music all the way down. After you do this, reconnect your AirPods. Wait for the confirmation sound and then play the music again, adjusting the volume until it’s at a comfortable level.

Check Sound Balance

One reason your AirPods might not be as big as you’d like is problems with balance. This problem sometimes arises when you put your phone in low power mode. To test this, open Setting > Accessibility > Sound / Picture and find BALANCE scroll bar.

Balance slider

The slider will have an L on one side and an R on the other, with a slide control in the center. If the slider isn’t perfectly centered, one AirPod will be bigger than the other. To work around this issue, move the slider back to the center of the bar.

Adjust Balance in Sound Settings

Digital music uses something called EQ, or equalization, to help improve the sound of a certain song. This eliminates imperfections in the song to give the listener a better experience. However, EQ can also affect the volume level of your AirPods.

EQ is set to off

Open Setting > Music and scroll down until you see Replay Top. Clap EQ and make sure it is set to Turn off. After you check if the EQ is off, check the volume level of the AirPods again.

Turn off safety limit

Because of the potentially harmful effects of excessively loud music, iPhones have some built-in safety limits to limit maximum volume levels. Turning off this limit can help fix problems with the AirPods max volume.

To change this, open Setting > Audio & Haptics > Safety headphones and click Noise reduction scroll bar. Doing so will cause a slider to appear below the settings, along with an explanation of each volume level.

Reduce loud sound slider

For example, the default volume is 85 decibels or as loud as heavy city traffic. 90 decibels as loud as a motorcycle, etc. Adjust this slider to set the maximum headphone volume you are comfortable with. This will help make sure your AirPods play music at an audible level.

Restore your AirPods to factory settings

If all else fails, you can factory reset your AirPods as a last resort. This should fix any performance issues, not to mention actual hardware damage, but it means you’ll have to reconnect the devices and change any custom settings you have for your AirPods. mine.

With both AirPods inside the box, close the lid and wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, then go to Setting > Bluetooth and tap the info icon next to your AirPods. Clap Forget this device. With the cover still open, press and hold the pairing button on the case for 15 seconds.

The status light will flash amber. Move the case close to your phone and wait for the pairing prompt to appear on the screen. Re-pair and reconnect your AirPods. At this point, they have been completely reset and should work as intended.

AirPods boast the best sound quality and comfort of any Bluetooth device on the market today, especially if you have an AirPod Pro set. Hopefully now your device reaches the sound level you want.
